Words That Describe My Counseling Style

A word cloud made up of orange, light green, dark green, and brown text of various sizes that describes Jessica Sepulveda, LPCC, a bilingual Colorado therapist who uses Emotionally Focused Therapy with everyone from children to older adults in our counseling office in Englewood Colorado.

Caring for your Relationships

We were created as beings that need to relate and connect. This need is strong and hard-wired within us. Each person, couple and family has emotional, social, physical and spiritual needs that drive us towards and fuel that connection. When we are getting those needs met, it feels amazing! It also makes us whole and well.

However, when our needs for closeness and security is getting blocked or has been damaged, it can feel absolutely terrible. There are times in most relationships when communication becomes difficult:

• Maybe you find yourselves holding things in only to have them blow up later.
• Maybe you feel like you are never going to make your partner happy.
• Perhaps you’re unsure if you are a priority to your partner, or whether they really love you down deep inside.
• Or maybe you’ve been through something difficult and you never quite healed together.

When an imbalance like this occurs in your relationship, it can be so distressing, start to disrupt your sleep and your work, and can leave you feeling confused and stuck.

Maybe you’ve felt like things you try to do to make it better sometimes backfire. You might even start to get stuck in that negative pattern with the person or people you love; something you never imagined could happen. Over time, the patterns might continue and soon become your norm.

When you’re stuck in the middle of the struggle, especially if it’s been a while, it can seem impossible to change.

Don’t give up on hope!

Our closest relationships are always changing and require attention and effort to nurture. I believe they are worth every single bit.

I’d love to be your guide to help you get the relationship you have wanted. I love to help people struggling to feel the closeness they want to overcome the communication gaps, miscommunication, or injuries that have been holding them back.

As a wife, mother and counselor, I believe in the power of love and that people can overcome the challenges faced in any relationship making it that much stronger and special. I offer a dignified and respectful approach to create a safe space that is judgment free that can foster the development of a strong alliance that will lead to great outcomes.

“When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for.

The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing.” Carl Rogers

I enjoy working with a diverse range of people of all ages (Children- Older Adults) and hope to serve clients of any gender, race, sexual orientation or creed.

Jessica Sepulveda, LPC Background

Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent many years working as a recreational coordinator with older adults and their families who were struggling with major health changes. I value the generational wisdom and cherish the experiences I gained with them and now consider myself an “old soul.”

I got my bachelor’s degree from Metro State University (it was a state college then) and enrolled at Colorado Christian University 20 years later to get my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health.

In addition to Couples and Family Therapy, my experience has also focused on addiction and trauma. I have also had the privilege of doing play therapy younger children.

I have been married for 14 years, have 3 boys and a puppy. I love that my life has been full of twists and turns, and hold onto the knowledge that we can overcome difficult times. I believe that every day has the potential to bring joy. I’d be honored to walk with you through challenges to finding your joy.
