A wise therapist once said to me, “Relationships are people growing machines.  They are the mirrors into our souls.” We continue to create the same experiences until we are able to truly understand what we need in order to grow into the person we need to become!

What to expect in working with me:

Hello, I’m Charlaine Thet, and I love helping people improve their most important relationships.

I am a straightforward and compassionate therapist, here to support you on your growth journey. We will start with understanding where you are now and where you wish to go. Even if you feel discouraged, we will work towards identifying new hope by ensuring you feel heard, seen, and supported.

Words That Describe My Counseling Style

A word cloud made up of orange, light green, dark green, and brown text of various sizes that describes Charlaine Thet, MA, MFTC, who uses Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and individuals in Englewood Colorado.

How I Can Help

Together, we will work towards your goals to create more intimacy and connection, and overall satisfaction in your relationships. When people work with me, there’s no blame or shame but we will strive to be vulnerable and honest in the room.

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy in my work with clients to better help them understand how their attachment longings and feelings affect their reactions, both in and out of relationships. We all have insecurities and personal experiences that inform the way we respond, and we also can’t read minds.

It can be hard to communicate your needs in relationships. EFT prioritizes emotion and emotional co-regulation as one of the key elements of clients’ experiences and the key to strengthening relationship interactions. What this means is that your feelings are an important part of the process.

Many things can impact our relationships from stress and anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, sexual difficulties, and childhood attachment injuries.  My hope is that together we will cultivate new corrective experiences that bring you closer to your true needs and desires.

I love helping couples grow closer, overcome communication challenges, find fulfillment in sexual intimacy, and heal from relationship injuries together.

If you are seeking help for family and parenting concerns, we will explore the parent-child dynamic, and find where things are feeling stuck. I will help you and your family begin to reconnect and find joy and connection. I also offer play therapy for younger children and encourage families to work as a unit so we can gain a full perspective to understand your child’s challenges and help you respond effectively.

I work with children through adults from an attachment perspective, which means I make sense of your struggles by understanding how your most important relationships are doing, and help you to feel better overall by improving those relationships using research-based approaches to creating change.

Let’s Get Started On Your Goals

Seeking counseling can sometimes be an anxiety-provoking process and you may or may not know what to expect.  Maybe you may have tried therapy in the past and haven’t had positive experiences or the therapist wasn’t a good fit. My first goal is to make you feel at home and get to know you. Whether you are seeking help to explore your life circumstances, coming in as a couple, or a family, together we will work to identify how best to get your needs met and help you live a happier more fulfilling life.  I’ll bring the curiosity, some humor, and a plan to get to know you and begin to help you make changes.
